I've heard some rumors that there is talk of a Women's Day strike that's going to happen today. Sure, I haven't paid much attention to it-in fact, I'm not sure if it's a strike, a protest march, or what it is.
Will it change much? Yes, but for the wrong reasons. Most women won't participate-they need their jobs. A women working at Wal Mart or in a day care will probably get in trouble with their workplace if they participate. I'm very confident that most women care about their rights-but they also care about feeding their families and paying their bills. In fact, my concern is that this will turn into an "entitled women who can afford to skip work" strike. If you can skip work and not get your ass fired, then you are entitled and shouldn't be striking in the first place.
The day without immigrants didn't change much. People went on with their lives and some people who participated in the strike lost their jobs. In the long run, it only hurt them.
