Johnny Rotten (yes, that one) is hardly a conservative and he's hardly a member of the establishment. He's also defending Trump in this interview.
First off, Johnny Rotten is legitimately insane. So I take what he said with a huge grain of salt. He could change any minute. I do love the guy though.
But, he makes several good points. The "left" (Labour, Democrats) used to be for the working man but that changed after Blair/Bill Clinton. While neither man was publicly for the Brexit, I can easily see them privately being for the Brexit. They are much more blue collar than Jeremy Corbyn or Barack Obama. The left now represents a more elite group of people that sneers at working people and their values. So his Brexit point was dead on.
His points on Trump are valid too. There IS a left wing media establishment that wants to take him down. Thus, since punk is inherently antiestablishment, nothing is more punk than sneering at the establishment-which is like I mentioned, left wing and elite. So like the legendary Johnny Ramone said, "Punk is right wing" and it appears to be true again.
