Scripture Sunday Alma 43:45-47

War isn't pretty. By the grace of God, I haven't experienced it personally and I would never attempt tell you what it's really like. However, sometimes it is necessary. In fact, the Book of Mormon sort of demands it with these quotes.

The theory of a just war was first thought of by St. Augustine, and these scriptures could be an LDS case for one too. The Nephites "we're not fighting for monarchy or for power but instead were fighting for "their wives and children and their right to worship." The Lord even told them that "You will defend your families even unto bloodshed." That certainly sounds like a justification for self defense, and even war.
