An absolutely fantastic bill in South Carolina would require students to take a class in personal finance in order to graduate. Instead of learning relatively useless things like cursive (yes, I went there) this bill would actually help them in the real world and it deserves our support 100%. In fact, I can't wait to hear how someone could possibly be against this.
No, not all of the problems in society today are the fault of kids. In fact, regular readers will know how much I loathe people who fall into the cliche and blame all the issues we have on the younger generations. Teaching kids in high school and more importantly, making sure they can't graduate until they know the basics of personal finance (how to balance a checkbook, how not to go into credit card debt, how to pay bills on time, what happens if you don't pay bills on time, how important your credit rating is) is a marvelous idea and will help them out tremendously.
