Ah, charity. That most misunderstood virtue.
This scripture says, "except men shall have charity they cannot inherit that place which thou has prepared in the mansions of the Father. To me that sounds like overkill a bit. The foundation of getting into the mansion of the Father is Christ, and while charity is certainly a good thing, it's not the be all and end all of salvation.
Charity is a hard thing to talk about. You don't want to be an ass who talks about how much they give to charity all the time-while that doesn't cheapen what you've done (if it's true of course) it generally makes you obnoxious. Charity is a good thing but it's of course it's better if it's done quietly and not broadcast all over the place.
You can also get overwhelmed by charity. Sometimes it might seem like everyone is creating a GoFundMe and you feel guilty if you can't give everything to everyone. It's possible to get compassion fatigue. It's okay to say no-after all, to some degree charity begins at home and if you can't feed your own kids than charity to others is somewhat foolish.
