Mormons are not known to rebel against authority or buck the system. In fact, LDS are famous for "being subject to kings, rulers, and the secular government.
But this passage things otherwise. When Amulon (a wicked ruler and priest) threatens believers with death if they "call upon God" the people speak up and defy him, at one point they "poured out their hearts to Him, and He did know the thoughts of their Hearts."
When bad guys get to be in charge-fight the power however you can. After all, the Book of Mormon says so with this passage.
