The Scorpions-Blackout
No one will ever accuse The Scorpions of being heavy metal, but this album does seem to have darker content and a bit of a heavier sound. Start with the title track, Blackout. It starts with a great guitar solo and goes into a "Look What the Cat Dragged In" kind of story that lets the listener know that the speaker has had several hard nights of partying. Sure, the Scorpions are sort of a party band (yes, like Kiss) but this song tells the crisp, clear story of someone having one too many.
The Scorpions are one of those bands that has sold millions and millions of records but seems to have few fans. While I'm not their biggest fan and don't know their entire discography very well, this one seems to stand out.
