Church name

Church President Russell Nelson has asked that the church no longer be referred to as "the Mormons" or the "LDS church".

With all due respect to him, I'm not changing the name of this blog.

The term "Mormon" is so engrained in the culture of America that it'll be impossible to fully change the name. It might one day be changed in to a faux-pejorative, something that only anti-LDS people use as an insult.

I remember as a child hearing a commercial that needed with the phrase, "The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, The Mormons!" so the church has itself to blame, at least a bit, for what they are called. There was also a movie released a few years ago called "Meet the Mormons" that I believe the church financed. So the church has itself to blame, at least partially, for the popularity of the name.
