Charity is a fun topic because, like all other virtues, people pick and choose who they want to be charitable to. Then they brag incessantly about how much they give to charity while at the same time being nasty to those they disagree with, looking down their nose at poor people, being self righteous over things, the list goes on.
Charity really is the pure love of Christ. Christ never played favorites. While people think he automatically favored the poor, he came from a middle class background that wasn't poor at all. He taught about the importance of being charitable, but at the same time being just. Very, very few people have those aspects in todays world.
That's one of the many reasons He is the Christ.
