Album of the weekend

Everclear-Sparkle and Fade

This is bittersweet for me. It's one of the best albums of the grunge era, in fact, it's underrated. Santa Monica, Heroin Girl are the two best songs. Everclear also did the best song off the Scream 2 soundtrack (A gem of a movie and soundtrack), "The Swing" My God they were good. They create a gritty, lonely atmosphere that shows the brilliance of the lead singer, Art Alexaskis. It's an incredibly good album if you like the grunge feel with a dark twist.

But that was their peak. I have a rule-mid 30's is far too old to have "daddy doesn't love me issues." Sure, we all have issues with mommy and daddy, but you need to get over it and move on. Everclear became the epitome of a band that didn't sell out, but lost the ability to create good songs.

So get this album if you like grunge, but don't expect other good ones from them.
