Wearing saggy pants to become illegal?

And in the "are you kidding me?" section of the newspaper, South Carolina is thinking of banning "saggy pants". First off yes, I know this will never pass and it's all a publicity stunt, but it still bothers me. Apparently the people in South Carolina have no problem with their representatives waisting time and tax money debating idiotic bills like this.

No, I'm not a fan of the style, but you and I don't make the rules. If you want to make this illegal, what is next? Wearing metal t shirts? Bikinis? Showing your shoulders? The slippery slope argument applies to many things and it's valid. If you give a mouse a cookie, he'll ask for a drink of milk. If you the government an inch, they'll take a mile.

The unpleasant truth about living in a free country is that people will do things that you don't personally agree with or like. You don't have to like it. You don't even have to accept it. You can speak out against it, jump up and down, and elect people who agree with you-but what you can not try to use is government force to stop people from doing things that, while unfashionable and stupid looking, are harmless.
