Album of the Weekend

Motorhead-Bad Magic

This album is very bittersweet for Motorhead fans. Oh sure, it's a great album with the usual snarl of Lemmy widespread through the songs. It has the typical Motorhead sound-which if you like the heavy metal style you will certainly like. Sadly though, it was the last album they released before the death of Lemmy, so even though the album is quite good, it can be a bit depressing listening to it just because you know it's the last one.

As you get older, your vocal chords begin to fade away like every other part of your body. It never bothered me to listen to Lemmy as he aged because to me, he's always had the sound of a guy who believes that Jack Daniels and Marlboro are essential food groups. So to me, this album doesn't sound much different than the other Motorhead albums. As a special treat, this album has a a cover of Sympathy for the Devil-one of my favorite songs of all time.

It's a very good swan song from one of the greatest bands of all time.
