Scripture Sunday Ether 12:27

Humbling yourself is never a pleasant ordeal. In fact, in todays society humility is an odd thing to discuss. It's true, a humble person will never say they are humble. It's like how a smart person will never say they are intelligent. If you really are humble, than you have to wait for others to say that about you to really make it so.

There is nothing wrong with being proud of your accomplishments. If you are a CEO, an MD, or a highly skilled chess player it's okay to take pride in that. It's when you start thinking you are a better person than someone  else who doesn't have your accomplishments that it becomes a problem.

You also need to be able to humble yourself before the Lord. When you do that, the Lord will truly show you your weaknesses and no matter who you are, you do have them. The good news is that when you humble yourself before God he makes your weaknesses much easier to cope with, which is what this passage is all about.
