Album of the weekend

Motley Crue-Dr. Feelgood

Motley Crue is one of the most metal hair bands out there. The difference between metal and hair band is huge-hair bands generally have shorter songs, not as in depth lyrics and a softer overall sound than heavy metal. It's annoying when people who don't know much about music get the two confused. Motley Crue is a good mixture of a heavy metal and hair band sound.

"Kickstart my Heart" is a great driving song. It's fast and you can sort of headbang to it in parts. On road trip mixes this is certainly a song I always use. The title track, "Dr. Feelgood" is another great song sounds very metal like and has a distinct "LA sound" to it. By "LA sound" I mean the sound of albums that were recorded by LA bands in the late 80's. Guns and Roses, LA Guns and Motley Crue. The songs tended to be decadent, dark and hedonistic. Motley Crue was all of that and more. Their drug use, sexual escapades, brawling and out of control lifestyle are legendary. This album is like watching all that in it's musical form.
