The latest mass shooting

Words fail when trying to talk about school shootings. You can talk about the innocent lives that were  taken, but nothing you say will come close to describing the agony that these people went though. You could talk about the motives of the shooter, but nothing you say can properly describe the piece of human garbage that he is. You can talk about both sides jumping into the gun control debate, but let's be honest-no one will change their minds and yes, it's in bad taste to start preaching about gun restrictions and the second amendment the day after a mass shooting. I've been guilty of it too, so mea culpa. 

"Thoughts and prayers" may not help the victims, but neither does caustically sneering at the people offering them. At a time where everyone feels powerless, offering thoughts and prayers might be the best thing we can do.
