Album of the Weekend

Anvil-Pounding the Pavement

So, thanks to Pledge Music I finally got a chance to listen to the latest album from Anvil. It's called "Pounding the Pavement", keeping with the tradition of the having the first word and the last word start with the same letter. With Anvil-a band that's been on the scene for more than 40 years-you know what you are getting. They've had some bad albums throughout their career (even some I don't like, and I'm a huge fan) but this album is a far from it. If this is their swan song (which I hope it isn't) they've gone out with a good album.

Anvil is a band that goes with what works, they aren't going to change their style or lyrical content. The biggest critique of Anvil has been their lyrical content, and that has some justification. Their lyrics and song content can sometimes be simplistic and a little silly. This album does suffer from that so if you prefer Megadeth or Iron Maiden lyrics Anvil is probably not for you. However the music is superb-it's pure, simple and fantastic metal.
