Several religious groups are apparently suing the University of Iowa, which has deregistered them because they do not allow homosexuals in some cases. The battle between religious freedom and homosexual rights isn't ending anytime soon. When it does, there will be so much bloodshed (speaking metaphorically here. Hopefully) that neither side will be able to be declared a winner.
Oh sure, any group should be allowed to pick and choose who they want as a member. A Christian group has the right to exclude LDS people. A gay group has the right to exclude anyone they want to. And a music appreciation group should be allowed to bar people who like the Dave Matthews band. If it's moral or not to do this is a totally different argument, but if you truly believe that someone is making choices that are vastly different to your moral code, no, you don't have to hang out with them or associate with them.
The bigger question to me is if the University of Iowa should be forced to finance them. No, they shouldn't. Your tuition dollars shouldn't pay for a Christian group if you are an atheist.
