Christians, especially LDS, are often thought of to be peaceful and non argumentative by nature. It's a stereotype and of course there are angry and unpleasant LDS just like there are angry and unpleasant people of all types of religion. However, many times LDS do try to really put on a pleasant demeanor and avoid conflict. This passage is why.
It states that "For verily I say unto you, that he that has the spirt of contention is not of me, but of the devil, who is the father of contention, and he stirs the hearts of men to contend with anger and with one another." This passage is a beautiful one, and one that always reminds me that anger and contention are emotions that we should do our best to quell and avoid.
