So, it's been announced who Trump is picking for the Supreme Court. Brett Kavanaugh is replacing the legendary moderate Anthony Kennedy, who frequently voted in favor of abortion rights, gay rights-but also gun rights, in favor of Bush in Bush vs Gore and other times in the conservative voting bloc. He was difficult and hard to pin down, disliked by both liberals and conservatives. I admired him and agreed with him quite often.
Abortion advocates are shaking in their boots right now, but they have no reason to. The right to abortion isn't going anywhere, and neither is gay marriage. Once a right has been bestowed on the population, it's virtually impossible to take it away-yes, this goes for gun rights as well. The left should be worried that Trump will replace a moderate with someone more likely to swing to the right, but it won't make any great impact on the controversial issues.
