"Educate" yourself

Has someone ever told you this? It's incredibly condescending, isn't it? When someone says this to you it's their way of telling you that what you think is idiotic. It's also their attempt to place themselves on a higher level-obviously implying that you somehow lack the knowledge of said topic. I see people say this all the time in regards to conspiracy theories and pseudo science.

Don't get me wrong, education is important, in fact it's very important. There are different ways to "educate yourself" though. The biggest way is to listen to experts because yes, they know more than you do. They "educated" themselves by dropping huge amounts of money and huge amounts of time on their professional training.
